My Story

How I became a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach

My husband had an opportunity to relocate to Germany for a work project, so we moved to Germany for 6 months with a nine month old baby.  There, we were pleasantly surprised with our 2nd born.  We retuned to the states to have him.  And two years later, our 3rd child blessed us.  I struggled with weight through all my pregnancies. I joined WW again and was successful in losing weight again.  We had a healthy lifestyle and my husband and I decided we would make a goal of running a marathon.  I can officially say I have completed a marathon (and many more 1/2 marathons too.)  After being a stay at home mom and raising our kids,  I decided to enroll in massage school.  Upon graduating I started my own practice in Roseville, CA, called Pure Energy Healing Massage.  I also studied and practiced CranioSacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute.  My practice was thriving but my husband was unexpectedly laid off from his job.   We boldly decided we should re-locate to the Chicagoland area where my husband was born and still had family.  It was the perfect age for our kids to change schools and the mid-west was calling us.  So with a heavy heart, I closed my practice, we left family (parents, siblings, nieces and nephews) behind, and we moved our family of five to Illinois in November of 2016, the year the Cubs broke the curse and won the World Series!  For the last several years I have struggled with finding myself and my "why" or "purpose" in life.  I have also struggled with my weight the last 7 years, since hitting my 40's.  In April of 2020 that all changed.  In  the middle of a global pandemic, I found the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and began my transformational journey!  I'm still a work in progress on my healing journey.  And in 2021, Simply Grounded was born.  Through this journey, I have always found comfort in being outdoors, connected to my roots, to the earth.  Wellness is about body, heart and mind!  Strengthening the core of who I am.   I hope I can help you find your roots again through our coaching journey together.  I decided long ago to give up on perfection.  It's all about progress for me!  It's an ongoing journey, a work in progress. When I'm not coaching clients I'm outside, swimming, mowing the lawn, snow-shoeing, skiing, gardening, riding my bike, walking my dog, hiking, being simply grounded in nature.  And when the world allows it again, traveling the globe.   Living my BEST life!
